Known as Greece‘s “second capital”, Thessaloniki is one of the most hip and cultured locations in all of the Mediterranean.
You’ll spend some time during this trip helping the local children served by Desmos, a nonprofit foundation dedicated to addressing social and humanitarian crises. But you’ll also have plenty of time to enjoy some of the best dining, shopping and nightlife Greece has to offer, along with an array of historical attractions. From the Church of Agios Dimitrios — rated the No. 2 attraction in Thessaloniki and awarded a Certificate of Excellence in 2014 by TripAdvisor — to the glorious Arch of Galerius, Thessaloniki offers plenty of stops for the avid sightseer. Spend some time strolling along the cafe-lined shore, sample fresh Mediterranean cuisine and, of course, try some of Greece’s iconic aperitif — ouzo.
Whether making a difference in the lives of children, journeying through history or unwinding in a cafe, a trip to Thessaloniki is sure to be an experience you will remember for years to come.
